After that, we’ll move onto the other versions.

Aesthetics

The Classic Accessories Colorado is a sleek-looking pontoon boat that will surely be the envy of everyone else out on the water. It has a futuristic look that can’t really be matched by inflatable fishing kayaks or canoes, though this is blended with a functional design that gives it an almost industrial flair.

The metal frame of the Colorado cradles the pontoons and the seat is centrally-mounted, giving you a good line of sight over the water around you.

The original model of the Colorado comes in only one color: olive green. This gives it an almost hunter/military-esque appearance, further enhancing its utilitarian aesthetic.

Functionality

Classic Accessories Colorado Pontoon Boat

The Colorado is an incredibly functional vessel, and many of its features are designed to make it as user-friendly as possible. One of the main things that impressed us about this pontoon boat is the wide range of storage space that’s available!

With a variety of pockets and baskets spread throughout the hull, there’s plenty of space for your fish finder and other equipment.

First, you’ll find some convenient storage spaces under the armrests, ensuring that everything is within reach while you’re sitting at the helm. While this isn’t the most spacious storage area, it’s still appreciated.

The rear deck consists of a storage basket that can carry larger items that won’t fit in the many storage pockets.

There are also many features designed for anglers on the Colorado, including the fly patch on top of the armrests and the rod holders that are located right next to the oar locks. There are even insulated drink holders located on the armrests, and they do a great job of keeping your drinks cold!

Material and Build Quality

Classic Accessories Colorado Pontoon Boat

The Colorado has worked its way to the top of the inflatable pontoon boat category by being one of the most well-made examples of this kind of vessel. The Colorado is both rugged and durable, and it should last you for many years to come.

That’s assuming, of course, that you don’t have any unfortunate accidents and you treat it right!

The pontoons themselves are made of a mix of durable PVC on the underside (which prevents them from abrading if they touch the bottom) and nylon on the upper surface.

While the nylon isn’t quite as durable as the PVC undersides, it offers a good compromise between light weight, low cost, and resilience.

Assembly

The Colorado has about a 20-part assembly process, so it’s certainly more complex than an inflatable fishing kayak or canoe. The assembly process is the most significant concern when it comes to the Colorado.

Thankfully, the Colorado comes included with the golden standard of pontoon boat assembly instructions. Each step has a detailed pictogram that will let you know what the step next to it describes.

While this doesn’t quite make up for the complex assembly process, it at least helps make it easier.

Accessories

The Colorado comes included with a pair of seven-foot aluminum oars. Since they’re made of aluminum, they’re lightweight yet durable. They’re easy to use and transport.

Unfortunately, that’s the extent of what you get included with the Colorado when it comes to accessories.

Optional accessories include the inflatable watercraft hand pump, which has to be bought separately. Classic Accessories also offers a pontoon boat repair kit, which includes all of the tools and materials you’ll need to patch up the Colorado if it ever happens to spring a leak.

The lack of accessories is certainly one of the weaker aspects of this pontoon boat.

The Bottom Line

To sum it up, the Classic Accessories Colorado is nearly one of a kind, as it features a reasonable price point coupled with impressive performance. This boat tracks through the water quickly and efficiently, and it’s one of the most versatile inflatable boats we’ve ever come across.

You can use the Colorado for sport and fun, rowing it from place to place just to appreciate nature, or you can use it for more functional tasks. The inclusion of things like rod holders and fly pads makes the Colorado suitable for anglers who are looking to get out on the water affordably, and it’s even compatible with trolling motors.

The few weaknesses of the Colorado include its bulk, which makes it more difficult to transport when compared to more traditional designs like kayaks. Another issue is that this vessel doesn’t come included with all of the relevant accessories, with the lack of a hand pump being the most notable exclusion.

Aside from those minor issues, the Colorado comes highly recommended by us.

Classic Accessories Colorado XT Review

Classic Accessories Colorado XT

The Colorado XT is the next evolution of Classic Accessories’s famous Colorado. This model is designed to be a little more comfortable, and it offers expanded storage space when compared to the classic Colorado. We’ll go over everything about the Colorado XT, ranging from its looks to its performance.

Key Features at a Glance

  • Equipped with heat- and cold-resistant bladders
  • Side pockets can be removed and used as gear bags
  • Equipped with a transport wheel for ease of movement
  • Comes with a two-year warranty

Dimensions and Specs

  • Length: 108 inches
  • Width: 56 inches
  • Height: 28 inches
  • Weight: 77 pounds

The Details

Classic Accessories Colorado XT

Aesthetics

Much like the original Colorado, the Colorado XT has the same low and sleek appearance that makes it look like a spaceship while it’s floating on the water.

Another similarity is that the pilot has the same degree of excellent visibility. None of the boat’s parts are tall enough to get in the way of your viewing angles.

One of the more notable differences between the Colorado and the Colorado XT is that the latter has more colors available. Instead just of the olive green of the base Colorado, the Colorado XT comes in your choice of two colors, with the first being pumpkin orange and the second being a dark sage green.

Functionality

Classic Accessories Colorado XT

As the upgraded variant of the Colorado, it stands to reason that the XT would be a bit more functional, and it is.

This model comes equipped with a lot more cargo space, which is helpful. It features a redesigned storage area compared to the base model Colorado. This allows you to bring even more gear along with you.

Even more impressively, the Colorado XT comes with a detachable storage container that you can use as a portable bag when you’re not using the Colorado. This will make it easier to pack all of your gear into the Colorado XT, as you won’t have to carry everything back and forth to the vessel.

To use this container, simply remove both of the side cargo pockets and combine them into a single bag. Also, the bags on this model are better-organized than on the Colorado, as they feature additional sub-divisions that make it easier to remember where you placed gear of every type.

Material and Build Quality

Classic Accessories Colorado XT Transport

Much like the base model Colorado, the Colorado XT features excellent build quality, and each of the parts have excellent tolerances. Provided you assemble the vessel properly, you shouldn’t have any trouble with things fitting poorly or parts scratching against each other, gradually damaging the fabric.

Once again, the pontoons themselves feature a PVC bottom so they can resist damage over time from the ground while the vessel is being moved around or loaded into the water. The other parts of this boat are similar, as well, with nylon upper pontoons and a powder-coated steel frame.

Assembly

Classic Accessories Colorado XT Transport

There are a few extra steps in the assembly of the Colorado XT since it has more base parts than the original Colorado. This makes a tedious setup process just a little more difficult, but it isn’t significantly harder to make ready than the original Colorado.

Once again, the excellent instructions help make it easier to put everything in the right place when you’re assembling this boat.

Thanks to the addition of a maneuvering wheel, the instructions also include a guide on how to move the Colorado XT around when you’re ashore.

Accessories

The Colorado XT makes up for a few of the crucial weaknesses that we noted in the standard Colorado, especially in the accessories department. This model comes included with the same 7-foot oars that were included with its predecessor, and they’re an effective, tried-and-true design.

On the other hand, you’ll also get an on-shore transport wheel that you can attach to the underside of the vessel to improve its handling on terra firma. Unfortunately, the Colorado XT still doesn’t come included with crucial extras like a pump or a patch kit, so it loses a few points for that.

The Bottom Line

The Colorado XT is the next step in the Classic Accessories Colorado’s evolution, and everything that the CA has added to this vessel helps make it easier to use. Even better, the Colorado XT isn’t that much more expensive than the base model Colorado, considering everything you get with it.

The change to the storage pockets and the gear bags on this boat are a big improvement. They make it easier to load and easier to find everything that you’ve brought along with you once you’re out on the water. And the inclusion of a maneuvering wheel for land use also ensures that you can easily handle this boat on your own.

While a few crucial weaknesses remain, like the lack of an air pump, the Colorado XT is an all-around improvement over the previous version of this vessel.

It’s still a versatile and effective choice for anyone looking for a convenient inflatable pontoon boat that can accomplish almost anything.

Classic Accessories Colorado XTS Review

Classic Accessories Colorado XTS Pontoon Boat

The next logical step in the Colorado’s evolution after the XT model is the XTS. The XTS is to the XT what the XT was to the original Colorado. In the case of the XTS, we’d actually argue that the changes are more dramatic than those between the two predecessor models, so let’s take a look at them.

Key Features at a Glance

  • Swiveling seat makes it easier to fish or just look around
  • Equipped with a stowable transport wheel
  • Adjustable footrests for boaters of all sizes
  • Mesh bag anchor makes it easier to remain in one spot

Dimensions and Specs

  • Length: 108 inches
  • Width: 56 inches
  • Height: 28 inches
  • Weight: 80 pounds

The Details

Classic Accessories Colorado XTS Pontoon Boat

Aesthetics

The aesthetics of the Colorado XTS haven’t changed dramatically, and it still features the same impressive looks as the other two models. A major shift is that the Colorado XTS comes in blue instead of the varieties of green or orange that we’ve seen in the previous two models so far.

Functionality

Classic Accessories Colorado XTS Pontoon Boat

There are a few upgrades to the XTS that help make it a more functional boat for a wide range of tasks. Its focus on fishing has been renewed with the addition of swivel chair. A common complaint in the previous models is that you’d often strain your neck while trying to look around, don’t even mention casting.

Along with the rotating, folding-back chair, the XTS comes equipped with all of your favorite functional features that you’ll find in the previous two models. These features include a mesh anchor that can help you remain in place while you’re fishing or just admiring the scenery.

Material and Build Quality

Classic Accessories Colorado XTS Pontoon Boat

There’s nothing too new about the materials used in the Colorado XTS, though it has many of the same advantages as its older siblings. These include the traditional nylon upper surfaces for the pontoons, offering a respectable degree of durability compared to the canvas used in some of its competitors.

Once again, the undersides of the pontoons are composed of heavy-duty PVC that is designed not to be worn away by years of use. All in all, the Colorado XTS still has a respectable degree of durability, and Classic Accessories’s famous build quality hasn’t changed in the years since the original Colorado was made.

Assembly

Classic Accessories Colorado XTS Pontoon Boat

A common thread between these boats is that they tend to get just a little more difficult to assemble over time, and that’s true of the XTS. While the leap in difficulty isn’t as significant as the one between the XT and the original Colorado, there are still a few new things to get accustomed to.

Namely, there’s a slightly different assembly process for the maneuvering wheel thanks to its new design. While this may give you a bit of trouble, the trusty instructions with their pictographic guides are still there to help you through the process, so don’t fret!

Accessories

One thing that hasn’t changed much between the XT and the XTS is Classic Accessories’s classic weakness in the accessories department. Aside from the redesigned maneuvering wheel which can now be stowed aboard the boat (great change!), nothing much is different.

You still get your two seven-foot aluminum oars that can be broken down for ease of transport, and you can still combine the two side pockets into a carry bag of their own.

Aside from these things, you’ll still need to come up with your own air pump, which is frankly a disappointment for new boaters.

The Bottom Line

The Colorado XTS has dramatically improved upon the formula, and it makes us excited for what the future may have in store for the Colorado lineup. We hope that Classic Accessories keeps refining their formula, and one day, they may just come up with the perfect inflatable pontoon boat.

Conclusion

As you can see, it’s a pretty straightforward upgrade from the Colorado to the XT to the XTS. Each model has improved upon the previous one, but is there ever a time when it would be beneficial to go back? In fact, there is.

The Colorado XT may have fewer features than the XTS, but it has one advantage: it weighs a few pounds less than the XTS. If you often take your boat to areas that are relatively inaccessible, even with the maneuvering wheel, you may prefer the XT.

We hope that this guide has been able to outline the differences between these quality boats from Classic Accessories and we hope to see you out on the water!
